Ontario Woman Scoops Up CA$22M in Lotto Max Play

Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has reported another massive Lotto Max win in the province. This time a woman from Kingston has brought home a cheque worth CA$22 million. She won the cool prize in the June 9, 2023 draw of the fan-favourite game. It happened while she was on vacation and was informed about the tremendous news from OLG.

Drawn twice every week, Lotto Max is among the popular choices when it comes to lottery products in Canada. The game’s main prize can reach the amazing CA$70,000,000. But there is more as after the jackpot crosses the CA$50-million mark, Maxmillion prizes are also in the mix. These come as a hefty CA$1 million per windfall.

Taking Home a Massive Prize

This week, the winner, Laurie Scott appeared at OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to cash out her CA$22 million windfall from the June 9, Lotto Max draw. There she revealed that she learned about the winning while she was on vacation, thanks to her Lotto Max subscription with OLG. She got an email from the Crown notifying her about winning something.

However, she was unable to log into her OLG account due to being outside of Ontario. She then contacted the Crown’s agents to get more details. She thought that she could have won the jackpot but was reluctant to believe it until she saw it with her own eyes. Once getting home, the retired academic librarian logged into the app, only to find out that she is now CA$22 million richer.

But she is happy that she did not know about the jackpot during her holiday, as most likely, all of her thoughts would have been consumed by it. She was both shocked and enthusiastic once she discovered that she has joined the lottery multi-millionaire club. Later, she shared the amazing news with her family in a video call conversation.

Ms. Scott added that she told her close one about her trip first and then about the big win, and they were quite happy for her and congratulated her on the lottery windfall. Now, as holder of a CA$22 million jackpot from Lotto Max, she plans to make some home renovations and travel around the world, while also donating some to charities, close to her heart.

More Ontarians Win Big in Lotto Max

In the past year, Ontarians have snatched some hefty windfalls in the nationwide Lotto Max. Some of these lucky winners include 83-year-old mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother from Vankleek Hill, Ontario – Vera Page. In November 2022, she claimed the life-changing CA$60 million, after matching the seven winning numbers in the November 1, 2022 draw.

Meanwhile, at the start of 2023, OLG revealed a family of six has won half of a Maxmillion prize. The six reside in Toronto and Ottawa, and their winning dates back to the October 7, 2022 drawing of the weekly game. The six members of the family – Siobhan Quinlan, Barbara Quinlan, David Quinlan, Andrea Merrick, David Merrick and Shannon Steele took home a cheque worth CA$500,000.
